Once again they hit the box office! James Bond film has broken box office records on its opening weekend in the UK – taking £15.5m in three days. Quantum of Solace took a further in France and Sweden, news said. The movie, which premiered in London, beat the previous record of £14.9m set in 2005 by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
Opening weekend numbers also surpassed the previous Bond film, Casino Royale. Daniel Craig’s latest outing as Bond had already broken opening day UK box office records. This is the 22nd official entry in the James Bond film series, directed by Marc Forster, of Monster’s Ball and Finding Neverland fame.
The UK cinemagoers have an advantage over their counterparts in the US, where Quantum of Solace does not open until 14 November. Casino Royale, which marked Craig’s debut as Ian Fleming’s suave secret agent, took more than £50m at the UK box office.
