Here’s another reason to sweat it out: Exercise can keep your brain young even with advancing age. In fact, six months of regular aerobic exercise can already reverse age-related brain decline. Researchers says that there is substantial evidence to prove that regular moderate exercise (i.e. enough to make a person breathless) enhances the speed and sharpness of though, increases the actual volume of brain tissue, and improves the way brain functions. Other studies also found out that those more physically fit adults showed less deterioration in gray matter (involved in thinking) than those less fit. Therefore we can safely argue that an active lifestyle with moderate amounts of aerobic activity will likely improve cognitive and brain function and reverse the neural decay frequently observed in older adults.
