As a nurse, facing different kinds of sickness isn’t a new thing. For the first two months I am assigned in orthopedic and general surgery ward where I take care of patients after they have undergone surgery. However, in the next couple of days I will be reassigned in the operating room where I have to assists the doctors in the operation process for four months straight.
My first encounter of in the OR section of the hospital was during my college time and the second one is during my appendectomy surgery. Now, the challenge is that I will be facing different kinds of major surgery like cardiac surgery and lung cancer surgery. I feel both excited and scared.
This is the real thing for me. I now have to face the bloody part of being a nurse. During my college stage, the instructor only assigns us to assist the staff nurse. We are not allowed to be so near that we only see the action from a far. When I was the one laying the surgery bed, I fell asleep due to the anesthesia. But, now I am one of those nurses that I used to assists. I will see the process takes place and that is scary. I will one of those people liable for anything that might happen inside that room. That is really scary. But, like I said I am also excited in a way. Hehehe!
