It is not certain where alcoholism starts. It can be from social drinking, stress, peer pressure, genetic predisposition or many other factors. But, one thing is certain it is a condition that can be physically, emotionally and socially dangerous. With these characteristics, stopping alcohol consumption is much difficult. But, alcoholism should be mended the soonest as long-term alcohol abuse can cause several physical conditions including cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatitis, epilepsy, polyneuropathy, alcoholic dementia, heart disease, nutritional deficiencies, peptic ulcers and sexual dysfunction, and can eventually be fatal.
