It is not certain where alcoholism starts. It can be from social drinking, stress, peer pressure, genetic predisposition or many other factors. But, one thing is certain it is a condition that can be physically, emotionally and socially dangerous. It is medically considered a disease, specifically a neurological disorder, and in medicine several other terms are used, specifically “alcohol abuse” and “alcohol dependence” which have more specific definitions.

Alcoholism is characterised by an increased tolerance of and physical dependence on alcohol, affecting an individual’s ability to control alcohol consumption safely. With these characteristics, stopping alcohol consumption is much difficult. But, alcoholism should be mended the soonest as long-term alcohol abuse can cause several physical conditions including cirrhosis of the liver, pancreatitis, epilepsy, polyneuropathy, alcoholic dementia, heart disease, nutritional deficiencies, peptic ulcers and sexual dysfunction, and can eventually be fatal.

So, if you have a loved one or a friend who is having alcohol problem, get help the soonest possible time. Professional help can be obtained through alcoholism treatment centers. Alcoholism clinicians have access today to a wide range of treatment options for patients. There is also continuous alcohol clinical research that led to significant progress of alcoholism therapies that improve the chance of recovery and the lives of those who suffer from alcohol abuse and dependence.

Tingling skin and urge to scratch known as itching are a protective response triggered in the brain. While most itching is harmless, the uncomfortable sensation may lead to excessive scratching, damaging the skin. Acupuncture, a traditional Asian healing technique, may be used to relieve itching. As with any new treatment technique, consult your doctor before using acupuncture.

Acupuncturists assess their patients’ symptoms to tailor treatments that address each individual’s specific needs. Because acupuncture is so individualized, patients may receive different treatments for the same health complaints. The Yin Yang House acupuncture clinic in Chattanooga, Tennessee notes several acupuncture points that are commonly used to treat itching. For example, the Gall Bladder 31 point located on the thigh is indicated for red, itchy skin. Urinary Bladder 17 is an important point for itchy skin disorders like eczema, and is found on the back near the spine. The Urinary Bladder 13 point, located near Urinary Bladder 17, is used for hives and acne, along with generalized itching.

A 2010 review published in “Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology & Venereology” evaluated scientific research and case studies on the use of acupuncture and itching. The studies included in the review reported that acupuncture treatments reduced the intensity, distribution or duration of itching. The reviewers noted, however, that the available reports relied on single-case studies or low numbers of episodes. As a result, the review concluded that while acupuncture showed promise as a treatment for itching, more research and testing are needed to prove its effectiveness.

Millions of Americans receive acupuncture treatments every year with few reported side effects. Although it is generally considered to be safe, acupuncture may have serious adverse effects if administered by an untrained or inexperienced practitioner, including infections from improper sanitation or punctured organs from incorrectly placed needles. To ensure safe care, check your acupuncturist’s credentials, and do not rely on a diagnosis from an acupuncturist who does not have traditional medical training.

The minute your metabolism slows down, you can feel sluggish and start to put on extra body fat. Slow metabolism can be the result of an increasingly sedentary lifestyle, bad dietary habits or lack of sleep. Fortunately there are some simple ways you can reset your metabolism to wake it up, giving you more energy to do the things you enjoy and help you maintain a healthy weight.

Don’t Skip Breakfast - when you sleep, your metabolism begins to slow down to repair the damage and stress caused by the day’s activities. Your body also goes into a catabolic state, where it gets low on sugar energy and starts turning toward lean muscle as an emergency energy source. When your body breaks down muscle mass, your metabolism slows. This is why eating breakfast is so important for resetting your metabolism for the new day. The sooner you break the fast, the faster your metabolism will speed up and go back to using carbohydrates for fuel instead of protein.

Drinking Iced Water - drinking cold water not only provides hydration and keeps your body running efficiently, but also increases your metabolism. When you drink ice water, your core temperature drops slightly. This drop signals your metabolism to speed up to restore its normal temperature. While drinking one glass of ice water will not significantly speed things up, several over the course of a day can add up to a bigger boost in metabolic activity. Try to drink at least eight glasses of water per day to stay hydrated and keep your energy level up.

Have a Chili Pepper - spicy foods or adding spice to your meals can help you reset your metabolism. Spicy foods such as chili peppers or chili powder contain a chemical called capsaicin. This substance can lower cholesterol and increases the amount of enzymes in your liver that help your body metabolize fat. Spicy foods also increase your core temperature, which increases your metabolism. Try adding spicy peppers or chili powder to eggs, vegetables or chicken dishes to boost your metabolism.

Individuals, who have experienced a hand or wrist injury, are recovering from surgery or have been diagnosed with a medical condition such as arthritis may benefit from physical therapy. Your therapy may help restore and strengthen weak, damaged or diseased joints and muscles in your hand and wrist. Your therapist, in conjunction with your doctor, will create an exercise treatment plan to help restore function and mobility.

Combination Therapies, your therapist may administer thermal care, such as the use of heating pads and packs. When combined with hand and wrist exercises, heat helps relieve pain caused by conditions like arthritis and osteoporosis and relieves muscle tension and stiffness. Combined with range-of-motion and strengthening exercises, such as isotonic moves or water therapy, thermal therapy techniques aim to improve and maintain wrist joint function and flexibility. Thermal therapy followed by weight-bearing exercises helps increase muscle strength. Water therapy offers low-impact movements with slight resistance to gradually build strength and endurance.

Palm Press helps stretch the muscles and tendons of the wrist joint and promote flexibility. To perform the basic palm press, place your palms together in front of your chest, elbows bent and extended to the sides. Press the fingertips, knuckles and base of your palm together. Keeping your fingers in contact with each other, lower your wrists as far as you can until you feel a slight pull in the wrist joint. Hold that stretch for five seconds, then relax. Repeat as directed by your therapist.

Flexor Stretches, wrist flexor stretches lengthen the muscles, tendons and ligaments of the wrist for strength, flexibility and enhanced range of motion. Follow your therapist’s instructions for flexor stretches. One example requires you to rest your hands on a table. Flex your right wrist, fingers together and pointing toward the ceiling. Place the palm of your left hand against the fingers of your right hand. Your left palm faces you. Gently press your left palm against the fingers of your right hand, feeling the stretch in your right wrist. Don’t press hard or far enough to cause discomfort. Hold the stretch for five to 10 seconds, then relax. Repeat the exercise on the other wrist, if necessary.

Extensor Stretches, strengthen and increase blood flow to the wrist extensor muscles, tendons and ligaments of the wrist joint with a gentle extensor stretch. Hang your right hand over a table, with your wrist and forearms are supported by the table. Place the fingers of your left hand over the back of your right hand and gently press inward toward your body. You’ll feel this stretch along the outside of your right wrist. Hold the stretch for five to 10 seconds, then relax. Repeat the exercise with the left hand, if necessary.

It is a very serious disorder that plagues a great deal of men, women, and teens throughout the world. It is characterized by compulsive, at times uncontrollable, craving, seeking, and use that persist even in the face of extremely negative consequences.

Dealing with addiction is rather difficult, but recognizing and knowing the signs will help immensely in eradicating the dependency. Getting help from the right people will help break the cycle of self-destruction. Malibu Horizon offers the most effective, research-based, non 12 step rehab programs available today. The program combines different therapy approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy, abstinence-based counseling, supportive therapy, narrative, motivational effectiveness, couples and family therapy, patient education, and pharmacotherapy to meet patients need towards recovery.

It makes the night really comfortable to sleep in without having to turn on the cooling unit. I used to complain about the hot weather; today I won’t do that because I’m really pleased with the temperature.

Well, before going to great slumber, I still need to check the symptoms of low testosterone. I got fairly low score in my simulation exam a bit earlier because of this. So, it’s reasonable for me to review it so not to get the same mistake if I encounter the same question again.

Okay I will share few of the things I found while reading some articles, it says symptoms of low testosterone is recognizable when there is a problem with sexual dysfunction. Also, one of the most foretelling signs of lower testosterone is a decrease in muscle mass with an increase in fat around the waist while having no change in exercise or eating habits. Along with an increase in fat there is a decrease in energy and libido. I think that’s enough information that I can share for now. I’d better dig in some more and will probably share it in the future.

Perhaps, you may have a stiff neck in the morning to nothing more than a poor night’s sleep; the sensation may be the symptom of a variety of causes. Waking up with a stiff and aching neck can disrupt your day, especially if it lingers. By understanding the cause of your stiff neck and the various treatment options available to you, you can get a good night’s sleep and wake up feeling refreshed and limber for a better day.

Take a hot shower in the morning. The heat and steam from the water can often help to loosen tight muscles so your neck feels better when starting the day. Stretching your neck in the morning can also help to restore flexibility in the neck; try looking side to side and up and down before you get out of bed. If your neck pain is disrupting your daily life, your doctor may suggest an analgesic, such as naproxen, to help relieve pain on a long-term basis.

You can help stop your neck pain before you go to bed each night. Invest in a support mattress and pillow so that your head, neck and spine are properly aligned during sleep. Visiting a chiropractor can also help you find long-term relief and prevent future stiffness. If your neck pain is the result of a tension headache or osteoarthritis, talk to your doctor about preventative medications that can help improve your quality of life. Finally, performing daily flexibility exercises can help you maintain the movement in your neck; yoga and daily stretching before bed can help relieve tension and prevent stiffness.

Once exhaustion kicks in, it seems like every morning when the alarm goes off is hell on earth. Even if that’s not the case, it’s a well-known fact that some people are simply not morning persons, therefore have serious problems getting out of bed in the morning and on their way to work. There are ways to spring out of the bed sheets smiling and they’re not even that difficult.

The first thing to do to make sure waking up and, most importantly, getting out of the bed is not such a terrible ordeal is to have the alarm ring at the same hour every day. Whether we like it or not, that also includes weekends, which means no sleeping in late on Saturdays and Sundays because that messes up our energy levels. Instead of waking up at noon on weekends, we should stick to the same hour as the rest of the week and then make up for lost sleep with a nap.

Next up: forgetting that the snooze button exists. I used set my alarm way early, knowing that I’d hit the snooze button three times. Somehow I felt like it made getting up easier, but those extra nine, 18, or 27 minutes you snooze won’t offer you deep, restful sleep. You’re better off setting your alarm for the time you want to wake up. Allowing yourself to sleep until then will help you feel less tired once you do step out of bed. In fact, studies have shown in the past that the few minutes of sleep we get in between the first time the alarm rings and the time we actually get out of bed do nothing in terms of making us feel more rested.

After we’ve managed to get ourselves out of bed, we should try drinking a glass of water first things first. This will help us stay hydrated and boost our metabolism, which means we should feel more alert right after gulping the water down. Waking up with music instead of a regular (and annoying) alarm clock is also a great idea, especially if we’re talking favorite artists, because that should bring us instantly into a better mood.

Eat a protein-rich breakfast. If you eat a carb-heavy breakfast like pancakes or a muffin, you’ll end up feeling sluggish, since your body has to work hard to break them down. Reach for a protein-rich breakfast instead. Yogurt, eggs, smoothies, or milk with a high-protein cereal are excellent choices. Protein will make you feel full and give you sustained energy until lunch.

Various people believe that weight-bearing exercise is unsafe for children. Although weight training can be dangerous when done incorrectly or without supervision, studies have shown that children can benefit from regular, gentle weight-bearing workouts. In fact, the American College of Sports Medicine recommends that obese children incorporate weight training into their regular routine to increase strength and gain lean muscle.

Many people think that weight-bearing stunts growth and damages childrens’ bones. Another common misconception is that children should not lift weights until they are at least 12 years old. However, when done in moderation, children can start lifting weights when they are as young as seven or eight years of age, as long as they are supervised. Nevertheless, strength training can be dangerous to children when it is done incorrectly. The most common type of injury related to weight training is muscle strain, which usually happens in the lower back. However, if children lift with proper form and the appropriate amount of weight, the likelihood of injury is significantly reduced.

When done correctly, regular weight training has a number of benefits for children. Weight training improves childrens’ strength, motor skills, growth and development, mental health, athletic performance and flexibility. Weight training also boosts metabolism, which helps children maintain a proper weight – and improves blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which may help prevent disease in the future. Many parents find that their children are more focused and have improved self-esteem when they do regular weight-bearing exercises.

However, when done in moderation, children can start lifting weights when they are as young as seven or eight years of age, as long as they are supervised, according to the American Council on Exercise Fit Facts.

According to MissouriFamilies.org, weight training improves childrens’ strength, motor skills, growth and development, mental health, athletic performance and flexibility. Weight training also boosts metabolism, which helps children maintain a proper weight — and improves blood pressure and cholesterol levels, which may help prevent disease in the future. Many parents find that their children are more focused and have improved self-esteem when they do regular weight-bearing exercises.

Basically, arthritis conditions can range from being so mild that they are hardly noticeable to so severe that they are disabling. If you are one of the millions of arthritis sufferers around the world, you are going to want to find arthritis relief to help soothe your arthritis symptoms and allow you to get back to your day to day activities.

Anyone looking for arthritis relief is going to consider the following products. Anti-inflammatory drugs are the most commonly prescribed for arthritis relief, and while they may be helpful for many patients, they are not a panacea and therefore are capable of causing many unwanted side effects.

If your doctor does decide to put you on any anti-inflammatory drugs you will need to keep an eye on your body and health, and if you notice anything unusual get in to see your doctor right away.

Then there is also the Zostrix arthritis cream for arthritis relief. If you want immediate, long lasting arthritis relief, this is one product that you are definitely going to want to try. This cream offers temporary relief of minor aches and pains of muscles and joints associated with arthritis and the cream is okay for use in persons over the age of eighteen.

All you need to do is apply a thin film of cream to the affected area and then gently rub it into the skin until it is fully absorbed and for optimum relief you should apply several times daily.

Whether you are looking for hand arthritis relief or knee arthritis relief, these products will be able to offer you the relief that you are looking for. Also keep in mind that diet and exercise are going to play a major role in your arthritis and how good you feel, so make sure that you live as healthy a lifestyle as possible.

If you are already on any type of medication or are pregnant or nursing, you are going to want to speak to your doctor before you start on any of these products just to make sure that you will not be putting yourself at risk.
