Dental problems are among the most common health problems experienced by older adults. In fact, people over 65 with natural teeth have more tooth decay than any other age group. Although dental problems are not exactly life-threatening, it is still a serious problem which warrants your concern and attention. Here are some dental problem prevention tips:
- Control plaque each day by flossing and brushing your teeth
- Use fluoride to make the tooth enamel strong. use toothpaste containing fluoride every day.
- Eat a balanced diet and snack wisely to reduce sugar and carbohydrates.
- Limit eating and drinking beverages between meals.
- Drink water more often to relieve snack hunger and to provide a refreshing,suger-free drink.
- Get Regular dental care.
The first recommendation would be to educate yourself. Put yourself in the hands of someone knowledgeable in the field, either locally, if possible, or if not, through the library and the Internet. Read everything you can about the oils and their effects, and don’t be afraid to experiment.
To start with, many of us first tried Lavender. It is one of the few oils that can be used full strength on the skin without harmful effects, and is a virtual ‘first aid’ cabinet in and of itself. A touch of lavender essential oil on the temples and back of the neck can ease a headache. A drop of full strength (neat) lavender can soothe and help heal a minor burn.
It is a potent antiseptic, and an antibacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral agent. It’s also one of the less expensive oils. If you have a local source for true essential oils, use it. Or order from me, or another online vendor. Check the Latin Name. You want either LAVENDER VERA or LAVENDER AUGUSTIFOLIUM, or OFFICINALIS. There are other varieties of oils, similar to true lavender that is sometimes sold as Lavender. They have different effects and won’t be as effective. (It’s a good idea to always check the Latin name of any oil you buy.) (more…)

The herbs that increase HCL in the stomach, such as dandelion, also decrease ulcers, which are the result of a bacterial infection. When stomach acid is increased, that bacteria has a harder time of it and is less likely to cause ulcers. Amusing isn’t it that medical science says “OK, there must be a mind/body connection, because gastrointestinal ulcers are caused by stress;” only to find out what my herbal teachers taught me long ago, bacteria cause ulcers.
Here’s one way to kill that bacteria (besides taking drugs): Get a food grater with a very fine grating side. Grate a large potato as finely as possible. Into another bowl, grate 1/4 to 1/2 of a cabbage. Let them sit for 10-15 minutes, until liquid starts to collect in the bottom of the bowls. Use your hand, or something hard, to press and squeeze the potato until it is dry. Throw away the pulp and keep the liquid. Repeat with the cabbage. Don’t use a juicer. There are plant starches that you don’t get when you use a juicer. A food processor is okay.
Put the liquids in separate jars in the refrigerator, taking 1-3 tablespoon full 2-3 times a day. The more severe the symptoms, the larger and more frequent the dose would be. I expect symptomatic relief within 36-48 hours, but this remedy is safe to take for weeks at a time if needed. (more…)

Acne is one of the greatest problems of wifey until now that she is already 28 years old. It seems like she will never completely get rid of it until she gets rid of her oily skin. She has used lots of acne cream brands, but none seems to effectively work. Sometimes, rebound happens and there are sudden or random breakouts, which really frustrates her especially if she is attending an event.
I wonder if she can really find a product that will completely solve the problem. Indeed, finding the right product is really a big task for her and for me. But, we are hoping we can find it so she will no longer envy all the clean face women.

If you’re trying to learn a new word, you may want to sleep on it, a new study suggests. Researchers taught volunteers new words in the evening and then immediately tested their recall of the words. The volunteers slept in the laboratory while their brain activity was recorded. Tests conducted the next morning showed that the participants could remember and recognize more words than they did immediately after learning them.
This improvement was not seen in another group of participants who learned new words and were tested in the morning and re-tested in the evening, with no sleep in between tests. The brain activity data collected from the volunteers in the sleep group showed that deep sleep (slow-wave sleep) helped strengthen their memories of new words.
The researchers also found that a type of brain activity called sleep spindles played a role in the ability to remember new words. Sleep spindles are brief but intense bursts of activity that indicate information transfer between two different memory storage areas, the hippocampus and the neocortex. The more sleep spindles a person experienced during sleep, the more successful they were in using new words in their vocabulary.

Before the operation can take place, you will need to provide your surgeon with details of your medical history. You’ll also have eye tests and other diagnostic procedures to make sure you are a good candidate for surgery. Just before surgery is conducted, your eyes will be cleaned and properly prepared with eye drops for numbing the eye. Your eyelids will then be held in place with a special tool to prevent you from blinking.
The alcohol solution is then applied and the epithelium is loosened and gently placed out of the way. Pre-defined beams of ultra violet light are then pulsed onto your cornea and after a short while the procedure is completed.
You will however probably experience blurry vision so you shouldn’t drive yourself home afterward. Also give yourself a day or so to completely recover from your operation.
The best results will be achieved by eye surgeons who are experienced with LASEK. Because your eyesight is so important don’t simply go to the cheapest or nearest specialist to you. Ask around your friends to find out if there are any surgeons who have carried out surgery.

Like I said a bit earlier, I am interested in losing some weight. Although I am not that big, but I can feel can lose some more. Whenever I look at the mirror I can see that my face is indeed a bit rounder this time, just like what wifey told me. It is an indication that I grew fatter as compared last month.
That is the simple reason I am looking at the tonalin cla reviews. Basically, tonalin CLA is a diet supplement that has the ability to reduce body fat while preserving lean muscles. It works by inhibiting the lipoprotein lipase, an enzyme which works to break down fat in our diets. Indeed, it sounds interesting. But, I am still reading the reviews of other people. I feel better that way to know the product more. Hearing what other people has to say will open up ideas on how the product works.

There are also all manner of help lines, where patients, or concerned relatives can speak to councilors who have vast experience in the area of cancer, and there are even specialized help lines for certain demographics, for example youth help lines, women’s help lines and help lines for specific languages; for example Hindi, Punjabi, or Urdu.
Help lines form a vital part of the cancer support network, as they provide a confidential place to talk and get advice. And they are not just for the cancer sufferer – anyone can call including the friends and family of the sufferer. They provide direct contact with understanding, friendly, professional staff, who can give free, impartial advice and anonymous service, so callers can feel comfortable about discussing their concerns.
The rise of the internet and social networks such as Facebook and MySpace has also benefited those suffering from cancer, with various groups that one can join. There are hundreds of cancer forums, cancer discussion portals and self-help cancer mailing lists in which anyone can participate, speak to others and get help and support from a community.

For a long time, wifey has been bug by the presence of blackheads on her face. She tried getting rid of them, but her efforts are futile. Popping them out makes her problem worse. She uses different acne treatment product, but it fails to get rid of blackheads. I guess there is a stronger formulation that can solve the problem. She has to find it before our special day arrives.
Oh well, my problem is a bit different from her. I’m more concern getting rid of my fat out. It has been a big problem for me especially now that I will work. Although the company did not prejudice me since I still look a lot stronger and healthier, but working on inconvenient time of the day increases my health risk. That is the one I am avoiding.

Society nowadays has taught us that we must live our lives against the clock, a prerequisite we’re more than happy to oblige, even if it means a less healthy for us. At the same time, we have learned to supplement for everything with vitamin pills, hoping that they are, in some twisted way, our ticket to a lengthier, disease-free life. Not quite so, a new study says: vitamins do not prevent cancer or heart disease, and are practically useless if not accompanied by other methods of keeping healthy.
Findings of the latest study come to confirm those of a previous one, in which researchers from New York combined data from two Women’s Health Initiative trials on 161,808 post-menopausal females aged 50 to 79 years. The risk of developing breast, colorectal, endometrial, kidney, bladder, stomach, ovary, or lung cancers was in no way lowered by long-term vitamin use, it has been shown. Moreover, there was no link between taking vitamin pills and heart disease and death, in that it neither lowered nor increased the risk for both.
The conclusion is that simply taking pills will not work wonders in our body, with us doing absolutely nothing to change at least some of our daily bad habits. Doctors agree that, while taking supplements is a good idea in case bad eating habits are an issue, abusing them will definitely not have the results we’re hoping for. Moderation and finding balance are the two key elements for a healthier life, they also admit.
